In late October, Phil Rose delivered a first run of the course “Introduction to North Sea Geology” to five drilling engineers. The one to three-day course targets professionals without a geological background. By using a mix of classroom lectures, fieldwork, and examination of core from their assets, the attendees reviewed the driving forces of geologic processes and demonstrated the asset’s subsurface context. In the process, they also considered the depositional and structural history of the UKCS from the Southern Gas basin to the West of Shetlands.
Some of the excellent course feedback received included “I wished I had done this course 15 years ago” and “The course was well organised and pitched at a good level for engineers”.
