This three-year collaborative project aims to significantly enhance carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies by addressing key challenges in fault-risk assessment and long-term CO2 containment in geological storage sites.
The CETPartnership is an initiative co-funded by the European Union that brings together public and private stakeholders from top research institutions and industry leaders to focus on collaborative innovation to address technology challenges required to support the energy transition. TRACS, in collaboration with these partners, will contribute its specialized expertise in geomechanics and fault behaviour modelling, playing a vital role in developing innovative methodologies to reduce fault’s risks of reactivation and leakage during CO2 storage operations.
Over the course of the project, the team will generate groundbreaking experimental data, enhance fault behaviour models, and deliver advanced workflows for mitigating CO2 leakage risks during storage. TRACS’s involvement in this collaborative effort will support global CCS initiatives, accelerating the deployment of safe and scalable storage solutions that are essential for achieving net-zero emissions.
