The purpose and process of cementing a well is covered in detail with respect to casing types, coating, centralisation, well trajectory and shape,  formation type, cement types, cement recipes, pumping sequence and information needed from the process to be used in  evaluating later cement bond logs. The value of information (VOI) of a cement bond log survey is discussed related producer, injection and CCUS projects.

Following the cementation process, the basic cement evaluation tools (CBL-VDL) are covered, followed by radial tools and latest generation of ultrasonic and pad type tools. Each tool is covered in theory followed by examples.

At the end of this 2 day course, the participant will be able to justify the acquisition of a CBL, select the best tool,  read the log, perform basic QC and relate the data in context to the well type, completion and report the data in a format that enables a team to  take a decision based on the acquired data.
