The Business Series embraces the non-technical business courses such as petroleum economics, strategy and planning. These have been run both as traditional classroom courses and as workshop-style programmes, often for large groups (50+).
TRACS Training courses are typified by commercial awareness, and this approach is encapsulated in the Business Series in short courses designed both for staff involved in finance and commercial work and for staff in technical disciplines looking for increased commercial awareness.
A number of courses can be run together. Alternatively, as with all TRACS Training courses, content from associated courses can be blended to produce the preferred client content.
Courses have also been structured around business processes specific to an individual client company, in which case elements of the training may be led directly by client company staff.
The courses can be run either as traditional classroom programmes or adapted to a workshop-style format, which is often more appropriate for experienced groups. Interactive workshop-style events have been designed for groups of up to 100, with the option of TRACS tutors working in parallel with client tutors. The workshop-style courses can also be run in the format of team-based business games.
The courses are led by tutors with extensive personal experience of business planning, petroleum economics and reserves reporting in national and independent
oil companies.

Mark develops and runs courses in Early Development, Business & Risk and Reservoir Engineering series. He has a career background at Shell, TRACS (Director), and AGR (VP). Mark is Author of ‘Petroleum Economics and Risk Analysis’ and co-author of ‘Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production’, an SPE distinguished lecturer, and guest lecturer at Heriot-Watt University.
