Petroleum Play Assessment

This is an Introductory course covering map-based integration of subsurface information on the various elements of petroleum systems. Quantitative prospect assessment involving Risking and Volumetric Uncertainties are applied to prepare prospects for portfolio ranking.

Course Content

We start with fundamentals of basin analysis (“base of the exploration pyramid”), then move to construction of play element maps, overall play description, and common-risk-segment mapping (CRS maps). The final portion of the course looks at how to place prospects into their proper play context (moving up to the top of the pyramid) and quantitative prospect assessment.

This course takes groups through these issues, fills any knowledge gaps in the essential technical fundamentals required for petroleum play assessment. Course content is based on real field data, and if requested, the client’s specific field data can be adopted to create an asset focused event.
